Ajith, during his speech during the felicitation function held for the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu M Karunanidhi, said that he attended the function to salute the great leader for his untiring efforts to uplift the downtrodden. He added that he attended the event out of his free will to laud the efforts of the CM in allocating land for those in the film industry.

The actor, however, appealed to the CM to advise the film personalities not to interfere in sensitive and political issues. He remarked when issues like Cauvery or Sri Lankan Tamils are brought to fore, the film industry people join the stir. But this should be out of their free will. When an actor or actress is not able to make it to such events they are immediately branded as traitors who do not have any feeling for their language. Ajith said that such issues are for the politicians and only they can handle it deftly.

This speech of Ajith got him a standing ovation from none other than the Superstar Rajinikanth. Rajini, who was seated beside the CM, stood up to applaud Ajith’s speech.

Silambarsan is not a part of Ko anymore. The actor was initially signed up by director KV Anand but the recent buzz is that he opted out of the film. According to the actor, the role required him to change his appearance drastically, which meant he could not concentrate on other films. There are also rumors that Jiiva has been signed up now to star in place of Silambarsan. The music for Ko is being scored by Harris Jayaraj.

Mozart of Madras A R Rahman, who, reported to have agreed to do a film, denied the news to a tabloid recently. He clarified that it is only a documentary he stars in and not a full length feature film. The documentary titled ‘Son of a Preacher Man’ is about the life and times of the Grammy award winner P J Morton, who is a successful singer, songwriter and producer.

He also worked with Morton in the 2009 Hollywood romcom Couples Retreat, for the song Sajna from the soundtrack of the movie. Rahman’s interview will focus on his association with Morton during the film’s music composition.

Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa will be Trisha’s second film with Silambarasan, the couple having starred in Alai a few years ago when they were relatively younger than now. So does she find it different to work with him in VTV? Trisha says working with Silambarasan for VTV was totally different from her previous film with him.

“That was quite early in our career and we were both new without much experience. We are both matured individuals now unlike before. Besides, VTV is also a love story about two grown up people and hence our maturity was put to better use,” she said.

The director of Boss Engira Baskaran, Rajesh declared that Silambarasan is not doing a cameo in the film as reported by certain sections of the media. There were reports that the actor has been signed up for Boss Engira Baskaran and this has raised the expectation meter for the film. The rumor seems to have originated from the fact that Nayanthara is playing the lead role in the film.

Boss Engira Baskaran has Arya playing the title role. Yuvan Shankar Raja has scored the music for the film and Shakthi Saravanan has handled the camera.

Although it was a gangster story, Gautham scripted for Ajith, looks like he had a change in mind now – or so it is speculated. In effect, the Gautham Menon – Ajith flick will not be a gangster story since the former has completely readied a fresh script. This will be a cop tale and Ajith’s latest looks (that he sported during the Asal audio launch) corroborates this.

The change seems to have happened since Ajith’s Asal is touted to be a gangster flick and two movies of the same genre back to back might make the fans lose interest. The actual storyline, however, will be known only when Gautham himself confirms it.

With Ajith free of Asal’s commitments and Gautham of VTV, the new project is expected to go on floors anytime soon.

Silambarasan has completed Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya and is moving on to Ko, as announced earlier. However, there is buzz in the tinsel town that his proposed directorial venture Vaaliban is based on his brief fling with Nayanthara in real life.

Reacting to this, the actor has said that he was disturbed about reports that Vaaliban is inspired from his love life. He says that while the world knows about the love he shared with Nayan and the subsequent rift, Vaaliban is all about one-side love. So where is the similarity, asks Silambarasan.

He reveals that the heroine in the film will never love the hero, so the question of touting the film as a real life love story does not arise.

Titles and prefixes have always been a symbol of status, popularity, and success in the film industry. Right from the days of MGR and Sivaji Ganesan it has been a trend.

However, the new breed of actors seems to think otherwise. Yes, Ajith has decided to denounce his Ultimate Star title. The actor, who is affectionately called as the Ultimate Star, said that the film industry is undergoing a sea change and in such circumstances there is no need for titles.

The actor also reportedly wrote a letter to Sivaji Productions, the production house that has produced his yet-to-be released Asal, not to use the title.
